This is a photo of my mother and I standing in front of the Student Union building at Lund University in Sweden. I was the first student from my graduate school, CSPP-San Diego, selected to participate in their Foreign Exchange Program from August 1994 to August 1995. My Swedish mother was able to visit me twice from the States, at Christmas time and during Midsummer in June.
It was a great experience for me. I actually came close to staying and finishing my Ph.D. there. The Professor that I worked with, Bo Hagberg, invited me to stay, and it was very tempting.
